Resurfacing project on U.S. 12 in Lewiston (levee bypass) to begin Wednesday
LEWISTON - Construction will begin Wednesday (Aug. 31) on a project to resurface a segment of U.S. 12, known as the levee bypass, in downtown Lewiston, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Initial work will include utility adjustments and curb repairs on a 1.5-mile section of the highway, from the Interstate Bridge to the highway's intersection with 21st Street. Crews from Poe Asphalt Paving of Clarkston will begin grinding the existing surface and applying a 2-inch overlay on Tuesday (Sept. 6).

The $675,000 project should be complete in late September.

Minimal impact on traffic is expected, but delays of up to 15 minutes are possible. The project will require occasional lane reductions, with traffic controlled by flaggers. No alternate routes will be designated.

Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in the work zone.
