Public comment sought on pedestrian ramps

BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department is holding a public meeting in Twin Falls and Ketchum the week of March 29 as part of an effort to develop a transition plan for pedestrian curb ramps in the public right-of-way.

The transition plan, which is required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, will identify and prioritize needed ADA improvements along state roadways across Idaho.
As part of this effort, the transportation department wants input from the public regarding accessible pedestrian facilities and how priorities will be set for future curb ramp improvements.

The transition plan will identify physical obstacles, describe the methods that will be used to achieve compliance, and specify a schedule for curb ramp improvements. Once the transition plan is complete, the transportation department will use it to develop projects to address ADA needs in the public right-of-way and install and upgrade curb ramps according to the schedule and priority list.

The Twin Falls meeting is on Monday, March 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Twin Falls City Hall Council Chambers, 321 2nd Avenue East. A short presentation will be given at 6 p.m. The Ketchum meeting is Tuesday, March 30, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Ketchum City Hall Council Chambers, 480 East Avenue North. A short presentation will be given at 6 p.m.
