Grand View to Mountain Home highway to be renumbered
BOISE - As of May 1, the highway that runs from Grand View to Mountain Home Air Force Base will be renumbered by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) in order to eliminate confusion for emergency responders.

Currently, Idaho State Highway 67 begins in Grand View and continues to the Mountain Home Air Force Base.
The milepost numbering for Idaho 67 then begins over again as it progresses east from this point to Mountain Home.

This causes confusion, particularly for Elmore County's emergency responders, who rely heavily on milepost designations. To solve this problem:

- ITD will renumber the 16.3-mile segment from Grand View to the air base as Idaho 167.
- No Highway 67 Spur will exist.
- Idaho 67
will then proceed 8.9 miles, from the front security gate at the air base to Mountain Home.

The costs are minimal (about a dozen signs will need to be replaced by state forces) compared to the time benefits for emergency responders.
