Black Canyon to Sand Hollow resurfacing west of Caldwell on I-84 to begin April 19
BOISE - A
pavement resurfacing and repair project is expected to begin Monday (April 19) on I-84 west of
Caldwell. The Idaho Transportation Department project, funded through stimulus
savings, will treat the roadway surface beginning west of the Black Canyon
Interchange and extending for five miles, to east of the Sand Hollow
Interchange.
Initial
work, through early May, is expected to focus on median crossovers. During this
work, the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph, and drivers may experience left-lane closures. During the remainder of the
work, one interstate lane will be closed in both directions.
The
project is expected to take up to six months to complete.
Several
badly damaged concrete slabs in that stretch will be removed and replaced.
Repairs also will include resealing pavement joints, repairing pavement cracks
and chips, grinding portions off of the existing pavement surface and completing
guardrail safety improvements.
Multiple
Concrete Enterprises of Ogden, Utah, is the contractor on the $6.9 million project.
