Construction on railroad crossing to close County Line Road Wednesday through Friday
RIGBY ‑ The Idaho Transportation Department advises that construction on the railroad crossing east of Exit 318 on U.S. 20 at the border of Jefferson and Bonneville counties will close County Line Road Wednesday through Friday (April 14‑16).
Traffic east and west of the railroad crossing must travel to Rigby or Ucon for east-west access.
The Idaho National Laboratory parking lot southwest of the railroad crossing will remain open, as will on‑ and off‑ramps of U.S. 20 at Exit 318.
Crews will close County Line Road between the parking lot and the North Yellowstone Highway at 8 a.m. Wednesday, so they can replace broken and warped wooden planks with concrete ones. The road will reopen when work is complete Friday evening.
ITD proposed the railroad crossing upgrade two years ago. ITD will provide traffic control for the project, while Jefferson and Bonneville counties will split the cost of the new concrete planks and Eastern Idaho Railroad will install the new planks and new railroad ties.
