VISTA: I-84 Traffic moving to SPUI ramps will cause slight delays Tuesday and Wednesday (April 20-21)
BOISE - The new Vista Interchange reaches a milestone this week as traffic is moved from the old ramps to the new Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) ramps. The Idaho Transportation Department advises motorists to pay attention when entering or exiting the freeway at the Vista Interchange Wednesday morning (April 21) since the new configuration will look and feel different.
Traffic on all four ramps - eastbound and westbound - will be moved to the new ramps starting Tuesday night. This move will allow crews to remove the old ramps and
continue to widen Vista Avenue.
One lane in each
direction on Vista Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday (April 20) to 5
a.m. Wednesday (April 21) while crews move the ramps.
One westbound
I-84 lane will be closed the same hours as above.
Moving the ramps
brings ITD one step closer to finishing the new single-point urban interchange
at Vista Avenue. This type of interchange is new to Idaho and uses a single set
of traffic signals to control all movements of traffic.
Reconstructing
the interchange will improve traffic flow and safety. Work is expected to be
complete in late summer 2010.
Central Paving
Co. is the contractor for this $17.8 million project.
ITD and the
Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving
in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov
for information on the state highway or interstate system.
