Nightly I-84 lane restrictions expected through end of April between Cole and Broadway interchanges
BOISE - Motorists can expect overnight lane restrictions starting tonight (Thursday, April 22) through the end of April as construction continues on I-84 in east Boise. The Idaho Transportation Department is widening the interstate to four lanes in both directions between the Cole and Broadway interchanges.
Between Cole and Broadway, one east- and westbound lane will be closed in both directions at night (10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends).
These closures will allow crews to patch and widen the shoulders, place guardrail and pour concrete in the median.
The speed limit will be 55 mph during the day and 45 mph during nighttime lane restrictions.
A width restriction of 14 feet also is in effect.
The $35.9 million project is expected to be complete in summer 2011.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow
down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding
fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and
dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or
interstate system.
