Sand Creek Byway construction will necessitate closure of Idaho 200 beginning Monday (May 17)
COEUR d'ALENE - Short-term intermittent closures of Idaho 200 begin Monday night (May 17) and will extend through Saturday night (May 22), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The construction  is part of the Sand Creek Byway project in Sandpoint.

The highway will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday. The highway will re-open during the day. Traffic will be detoured onto Kootenai Cutoff Road in Ponderay.

Local access to businesses will remain open.

The closures are necessary to transport and place girders over Idaho 200 for the future U.S. 95 overpass structures.

ITD and the Idaho State Police remind motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
