Idaho Transportation Board approves plan to obligate all available federal funds
BOISE - At its August meeting, the Idaho Transportation Board approved a plan that ensures all available 2005 federal-aid funding will be obligated for highway construction projects.

Each year the board approves an end-of-year contingency plan that identifies projects scheduled for construction in fiscal year 2005 (according to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program), but which may not be ready for construction.  Substitute projects ready to be bid are also identified. Contingency planning ensures that all of Idaho's available federal-aid funding will be used.
  • The following substitute projects, in priority order, may be advanced to the FY05 construction schedule:

    U.S. 95:  Chain-up area to Grangeville (Resurfacing)
Offsystem:  N. Darlington Bridge, Custer County (Bridge replacement)
Interstate 90:  Wolf Lodge East, Kootenai County (Resurfacing)
Interstate 84/86:  FY07 Dist. 4 Interstate (Seal coat)
Idaho 55:  Marsing to Sunnyslope Curve (Reconstruction)
Interstate 84:  Jct. I-84/U.S. 93 Interchange, Stage 2 (Interchange ramps)
Local road: Yale Road, Cassia County, Stage 2 (Resurfacing)

  • The following projects, already under construction, may benefit from federal redistribution of funds, allowing Idaho to access unused funds from other states. The projects are initially funded by the State of Idaho, but federal-aid funds will be used to fully pay back the state over the next several years:
Interstate 84: Karcher Interchange, Nampa (Reconstruction)
U.S. 95:  Setters Road to Bellgrove, Stage 2 (Reconstruction)

  • Depending on the extent of redistributed funds the following project also could be advanced to FY05 for construction:
U.S.95:  Sandpoint to Kootenai Cutoff (Major widening)
