Idaho 24 construction east of Shoshone begins this week
SHOSHONE - A road preservation project on Idaho 24 east from Shoshone to the Milner-Gooding Canal is expected to begin Thursday (May 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Traffic on Idaho 24 will be reduced to one lane during work hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) as crews perform work to overlay the existing roadway. The asphalt overlay is expected to improve smoothness and longevity of the roadway. Crews also will be applying concrete sealant to the Milner-Gooding Canal bridge.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through the work zone. Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared for delays of as much as 10 minutes. The speed limit will be reduced throughout the construction zone to 45 mph.

Kloepffer Inc., of Paul, is the contractor for the $381,000 preservation project. The project is scheduled for completion by June 18.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
