Sun Valley Road night work scheduled for Thursday and Friday (June 3-4)
KETCHUM - Crews will be performing night work on the Idaho 75 spur/Sun Valley Road on Thursday and Friday (June 3-4) to install durable pavement markings from Ketchum to Sun Valley, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will work for two nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to install durable, long-lasting pavement markings to replace the existing paint striping. Sun Valley Road was designated for the durable markings because the paint markings have faded due to high traffic volumes and harsh weather.

Work will include milling into the existing surface and placing recessed markings on Sun Valley Road from its intersection with Idaho 75 (Main Ave.) in Ketchum to a point east of Saddle Road in Sun Valley, a distance of a little more than a mile. Milling (grinding off the top few inches of pavement) creates noise, but crews must work at night because traffic volumes are lower.

Work may be delayed to a later date due to weather or temperatures below an acceptable standard.

One lane will be closed while crews are working. Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared for delays of as much as 10 minutes. A pilot car will be in operation during the lane closure.

Specialized Pavement Markings, of Tualatin, Ore., is the contractor for the $149,000 road-marking project. The project is scheduled for completion by June 5.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
