Construction on U.S. 20 and Idaho 33 between Rexburg and St. Anthony to begin Tuesday (June 1)
RIGBY ‑ Construction on U.S. 20 and Idaho 33 between Rexburg and St. Anthony will begin Tuesday (June 1), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The project is scheduled for completion in July.
Crews will resurface a 3.3‑mile stretch of northbound U.S. 20 between the Madison‑Fremont county line and south St. Anthony, Exit 344, and a four‑mile stretch of Idaho 33 between 2nd East in Rexburg and the intersection of 7th East and Idaho 33 north of Sugar City.
The project will include removing pavement from the existing surface, placing a new asphalt layer, adding a reinforcing paving fabric and then overlaying the fabric with a second layer of asphalt plant mix. The project also will include a seal coat and pavement markings.
Travel will be reduced to one lane, and the speed limit on U.S. 20 will be reduced to 45 mph in the construction zone. Work will take place on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Idaho 33, motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers direct traffic through the construction zone.
Commercial vehicles will be restricted to 12 feet in width.
Drivers should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs.
HK Contractors of Idaho Falls is the contractor for the $2.25 million project.
