Nightly I-84 restrictions will continue in June between Cole, Broadway interchanges
BOISE - The first mile of new pavement in the I-84 median has been completed near the Orchard Interchange, from west of Orchard to the New York Canal. The Idaho Transportation Department asks motorists to expect intermittent lane restrictions until June 13 on I-84 in east Boise.

One east- and westbound lane will be closed in both directions overnight (10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends) between the Cole and Broadway interchanges.

Later this summer crews will reconstruct the westbound I-84 lanes. The eastbound lanes will be reconstructed in early 2011.

ITD is widening 3.2 miles of the interstate to four lanes in both directions between the Cole and Broadway interchanges.

The speed limit will be 55 mph during the day and 45 mph during nighttime lane restrictions.

A width restriction of 14 feet is in effect.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
