U.S. 93 construction south of Shoshone begins Monday (June 7)
SHOSHONE -  An Idaho Transportation Department road preservation project on U.S. 93 south, from south Shoshone city limit to 700 North Road in Jerome County, is expected to begin Monday (June 7). Work is expected to be completed in late July. The project will extend the life of the roadway and provide an improved ride for motorists.

Crews will begin milling, or grinding off the pavement surface, of the roadway before overlay paving. The new asphalt overlay will then be finished with a seal coat overlay.

U.S. 93 will be reduced to one lane during work hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared for delays of as much as 10 minutes.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through the work zone while the surface is grooved and following the seal coat. The speed limit will be reduced throughout the construction zone as needed and will be as low as 35 mph following the seal coat.

Idaho Sand and Gravel of Jerome is the contractor for the $1.4 million preservation project.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
