I-84 eastbound on/off ramps at Burley Interchange to be closed Tuesday (June 15)
BURLEY - Eastbound Interstate 84 traffic going into and out of Burley will need to plan for an alternate route as Exit 208 will be closed Tuesday (June 15) for construction crews to pave through both the on- and off-ramps, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The eastbound on- and off-ramps will be closed while crews complete this section of roadway rehabilitation which will include pulverizing the remaining asphalt, stabilizing the base and repaving the roadway. Exit 208 is a primary access to Burley and Paul as well as large portions of Minidoka and Cassia counties. The ramps will be closed from approximately 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Eastbound traffic will be required to use the Heyburn Interchange (Exit 211) to access the area. The westbound on- and off-ramps will remain open during this phase of the construction project.

The closure is part of an approximately 15-mile, full-width rehabilitation project of I-84 between mileposts 207 to 222 being performed by two contractors.

Knife River Corporation Northwest of Boise is the contractor for the section between the Burley and Declo interchanges (milepost 207 to 216) at a cost of $12.8 million. That includes bridge work to the Heyburn Overpass Interchange (exit 211).

Drivers are urged to follow all traffic-control devices throughout the construction zone. Drivers are reminded to yield to through traffic while entering I-84 and use extreme caution to avoid existing potholing and rutting. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hour through the construction zone.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
