11th Avenue Bridge pile driving work in Nampa will cause noise, vibration near project
NAMPA - The Idaho Transportation Department is pile driving on the north side of the 11th Avenue Bridge over Interstate 84 as part of the bridge replacement project. This work is required in order to place the new bridge abutments. Local businesses and residents may hear loud noises and feel slight vibrations during the work.
All pile driving is scheduled for daytime hours - 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. - to
limit nighttime noise and inconvenience to nearby residents. The work should be
complete Saturday evening (June 19).
The 11th Avenue Bridge closed to all traffic in
May and will remain closed for approximately four months. Reconstruction of the
bridge is required to accommodate future lanes on I-84. Beginning later this month,
a project will add one lane in each direction on I-84 between Franklin and
Garrity.
McAlvain Civil Constructors the contractor on the $4.1 million 11th Avenue Bridge project.
The bridge reconstruction and I-84 widening projects are among several interstate improvements occurring in an 18-mile stretch of I-84, funded by the GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses proceeds from Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
