Road maintenance slows traffic in two places on U.S. 20 north of Ashton starting today (Monday, June 21)
RIGBY ‑ Road maintenance is slowing traffic in two places on U.S. 20 north of Ashton starting today (Monday, June 21), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews are reconstructing a 120‑foot stretch of U.S. 20 just south of the entrance to Harriman State Park (milepost 378) to repair a rough spot. Crews also are trimming trees along the highway between Ashton Hill and Island Park (milepost 373 to 376) to expose the pavement to sunlight to reduce ice buildup in shady areas during the winter.
Work on these projects is expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays and be completed in July, after which the road will reopen.
During maintenance, travel will be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic. Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes.
Drivers should be prepared to stop, and should watch for traffic signs, workers and equipment.
