UPDATE: I-84 closures, detours in Nampa for bridge work rescheduled for Tuesday & Thursday nights
NAMPA
- Rainy and stormy weather last night has pushed back the Interstate 84
closures between the Garrity Boulevard and Franklin Boulevard interchanges to tonight (Tuesday, June 29) and Thursday
(July 1) overnight to set girders for the new 11th Avenue Bridge. There
will be no closures Wednesday night in order to keep traffic flowing for the
God & Country event.
The
Idaho Transportation Department will close the eastbound lanes of I-84 from 11
p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight tonight. On Wednesday night, the westbound lanes will
be closed during those same hours.
Flaggers
will direct interstate travelers to follow these detours:
- For eastbound motorists:
exit the interstate at the Franklin interchange (Exit 36), travel south on
Franklin to the Franklin/Garrity/11th Avenue intersection, then north on
Garrity to the interchange to re-enter the interstate.
- For westbound motorists:
exit the interstate at the Garrity interchange (Exit 38) and use the same
detour route in the opposite direction.

The
11th Avenue Bridge closed to all traffic in May and will remain closed until
late summer. Reconstruction of the bridge is required to accommodate future
lanes on I-84. Beginning later this month, a project will add one lane in each
direction on I-84 between Franklin and Garrity.

Civil Constructors the contractor on the $4.1 million 11th Avenue Bridge
project.
The
bridge reconstruction and I-84 widening projects are among several interstate
improvements occurring in an 18-mile stretch of I-84, funded by the GARVEE
Transportation Program. The program uses proceeds from Grant Anticipation
Revenue Vehicle bonds.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
