Broadway Avenue resurfacing to begin in mid- to late July
BOISE - A
resurfacing project on Broadway Avenue (U.S. 20) from the Ridenbaugh Canal to
the south side of the I-84 junction is due to begin in mid- to late July.
The project also will include work on the Federal Way ramps.
To minimize impacts to motorists, the Idaho Transportation Department says crews will work an evening and overnight
schedule (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.). All lanes will remain open during the day. At
least one lane in each direction will remain open during construction.
During this project, the top three inches of pavement will be milled off the surface
and replaced. Sections of the roadway are deteriorated, cracked and rutted. The
project will extend the life of the roadway and result in a smoother ride.
All efforts will be made to maintain cross street and business access. However,
temporary closures can be expected as the paving process moves through the
project. The I-84 and Federal Way ramps will not be closed during the day, but
intermittent closures of the Federal Way ramps will be in place on select
evenings. Detours will be established and advance warning given prior to the
intermittent closures.
Crews
also will be updating the traffic signals at the Federal Way and I-84 ramps to
include a video-detection system.
Broadway was resurfaced from Rossi Street to the Ridenbaugh Canal in fall 2008,
including pedestrian ramp reconstruction. Broadway was resurfaced from the
Boise River Bridge to Rossi Street in summer 2003.
Central Paving Co., of
Boise, is the contractor on this $556,000 project.
