REMINDER: Interstate 84 to be closed in Nampa tonight for 11th Avenue bridge work
NAMPA - The Idaho
Transportation Department reminds drivers that the westbound lanes of I-84 will be closed
between the Garrity Boulevard and Franklin Boulevard interchanges tonight (Thursday, July 1) to finish
setting girders for the new 11th Avenue Bridge.
In addition, the eastbound
interstate will be reduced to one lane overnight in the area.
The westbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. The single eastbound
lane reduction will run from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
A detour route will be used during the westbound closure. Flaggers
will direct interstate travelers along the detour below:
Westbound
motorists will exit the interstate
at the Garrity Interchange (Exit 38), follow Garrity Boulevard to the
Garrity/11th/Franklin intersection, then turn north on Franklin Boulevard. From
there, motorists will re-enter the interstate at the Franklin Interchange.
Click here to see the detour route.
The 11th Avenue Bridge closed to all traffic in May and will remain closed
until late summer. Reconstruction of the bridge is required to accommodate
future lanes on I-84. Beginning in early July, a project will begin that will add one lane in
each direction on I-84 between Franklin and Garrity.
McAlvain Civil Constructors is the contractor on the $4.1 million 11th Avenue
Bridge project.
The bridge reconstruction and I-84 widening projects are among several
interstate improvements occurring in an 18-mile stretch of I-84, funded by the
GARVEE Transportation Program. The program uses proceeds from Grant
Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
