Flaggers will guide traffic in Burley at Overland, 7th Street intersection
BURLEY - Traffic will be shifted at the intersection of Overland Avenue and 7th Street the night of Thursday (July 8) as crews excavate and place a sanitary sewer line across the street, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The intersection will be directed by flaggers as crews continue the excavation and placement of the sewer line for the city of Burley, moving traffic onto the reconstructed gravel roadway. The diversion around the underground work will begin at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday and extend through 6 a.m. on Friday.

The sewer line replacement is part of the Overland Avenue reconstruction project between Interstate 84 and the Snake River. The new roadway will feature a wider road, enhanced turn bays, and restructured and improved business access.

Drivers are reminded to follow all temporary traffic control devices throughout the construction zone. Drivers should watch for hazards and be cautious of workers and equipment at all times.

Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise, is the contractor for the $3.13 million reconstruction. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-October.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
