Construction on Salmon River Bridge on U.S. 93 in Salmon to begin this week
RIGBY - Construction on the Salmon River Bridge on U.S. 93 in Salmon will begin this week, possibly as early as Tuesday (July 13), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will resurface the deck, replace the sidewalk and install railing on the south side of the bridge.

Railing will include a pedestrian rail between the sidewalk and bridge deck, and a six‑foot‑high fence on the south edge of the bridge. Work on the deck will be in three phases: milling, leveling and pouring.

During construction, motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Two‑way travel will be maintained, with flaggers stopping traffic intermittantly for work activities.

Resurfacing the deck will improve traffic safety and riding comfort, and extend the life of the deck. Replacing the sidewalk and extending the railing will improve pedestrian safety. Work is scheduled for completion by November 1.

Commercial vehicles will be restricted to 10 feet in width and to legal weights.

Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment and obey all traffic signs.
