I-15 to close intermittently for Blue Angels air show next week (July 22-25) in Idaho Falls
RIGBY - Interstate 15 will close intermittently for the Extreme Blue Thunder Air Show next week (July 22‑25) in Idaho Falls, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. I-15 will close between Idaho Falls and Roberts (milepost 119 and 134) for rehearsals and performances of the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels precision flying team.

Traffic will be detoured through Rigby on U.S. 20 and Idaho 48 (Click here for a map). Motorists should be prepared to slow down and obey all traffic signs.

Closures will be on:
  • Thursday, July 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (first rehearsal).
  • Friday, July 23, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (second rehearsal).
  • Saturday, July 24, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (first performance).
  • Sunday, July 25, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (second performance).
The Blue Angels team is the feature event for the Extreme Blue Thunder Air Show Saturday and Sunday, July 24, 25, at the Idaho Falls Regional Airport. This headline event is the finale of each afternoon show.

The U.S. Navy requires that the area around a performance of its famous flight squadron (six Boeing F/A-18 Hornet military jets and a Lockheed-Martin C-130, "Fat Albert," turboprop plane) be cleared of people and traffic for safety purposes.
