Traffic switch on Washington Street between Addison and Filer tonight
TWIN FALLS - Completion of construction on the first phase of Washington Street between Addison and Filer avenues will be marked with a switch of traffic onto the newly paved southbound lanes by Wednesday morning (July 21), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The first layer of asphalt paving was completed on the southbound lanes Tuesday, completing phase one of the project. Moving into phase two, crews will begin with excavation and construction of the northbound lanes on Wednesday. The top layer of asphalt paving on the southbound lanes will be completed near the end of construction.

Traffic will continue to be limited to one lane in each direction for the remainder of construction. Left turns are not allowed within the construction zone. Drivers are reminded to use extreme caution in the work zone, be mindful of workers and equipment, and follow all traffic control signs.

The reconstruction will tie together widened sections of roadway near the intersections at Addison and Filer avenues. The widened section will include a storm water drainage system, center median with left turn bays and new sidewalk.

Gordon Paving, of Twin Falls, is the contractor for the $1.7 million project sponsored by the city of Twin Falls. The federally funded project is administered by the transportation department.
