I-86 westbound off-ramp at I-84/I-86 interchange to be closed through September
BURLEY - Drivers who go from westbound Interstate 86 onto eastbound Interstate 84 will need to plan a few extra minutes of travel, the Idaho Transportation Department said.
The westbound off-ramp from I-86 onto eastbound I-84 will be closed beginning Thursday (July 22) through the end of an I-84 project. Vehicles moving from I-86 onto I-84 will be required to go farther westbound to the Declo Interchange (I-84, Exit 216) before re-entering onto the eastbound lanes.
Signs will be placed at the on-ramps at Raft River and American Falls announcing the closure.
The closure is part of an approximately 15-mile, full-width rehabilitation project of I-84 from mileposts 207 to 222.
Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company of Draper, Utah, is the contractor for the section between the Declo Interchange and the I-84/I-86 junction (milepost 216 to 222). The $9.3 million project is expected to be completed in late-September.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
