U.S. 93 construction near Richfield starts Monday (July 26)
SHOSHONE - A highway preservation project on U.S. 93 through Richfield is expected to begin on Monday (July 26), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Crews will begin placing an asphalt overlay on Monday, followed by a chip seal coat designed to improve smoothness and longevity of the roadway. The work will include the area between the Little Wood River Bridge south of Richfield and the Jim Byrne Slough Bridge north of the city (mileposts 177-183). Work is expected to be completed in mid-August.
U.S. 93 will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be piloted through the project while crews work. Drivers should watch for flaggers and be prepared for delays of as much as 15 minutes.
Gordon Paving Inc. of Twin Falls is the contractor for the $560,000 preservation project.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
