Construction on bridges over Teton River along U.S. 20 begins Monday
RIGBY - Construction on bridges over the Teton River along U.S. 20 in Madison County begins Monday (July 26), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crews will resurface the decks of the South Fork Teton River Bridge northwest of the Rexburg-Madison County Airport and North Fork Teton River Bridge north of Sugar City.

The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph for most of the work and 25 mph for concrete placement and curing. The 25 mph speed limit reduction will last up to 10 days for each bridge and be enforced around the clock.

Reduced speeds help minimize the damaging effect of traffic jarring the adjacent deck during cure time, which is essential to concrete stability.

Travel is reduced to one lane in the construction zones. Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment.

Commercial vehicles will be restricted to 12 feet in width and to legal weights.

Construction on the bridges is scheduled for completion in September.
