I-84 westbound off-ramp at Nampa's Garrity Interchange to be moved overnight Saturday (July 31)
BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department advises motorists traveling westbound on I-84 to expect a change at the Garrity Interchange starting Saturday night (July 31). The ramp relocation will begin at 10 p.m., and be completed by 5 a.m. Sunday morning (Aug. 1).

I-84 westbound traffic will shift to the south and be reduced to two lanes between the Robinson Road Overpass and the Garrity Interchange. Motorists wanting to exit at Garrity will enter a newly constructed temporary off-ramp three-quarters of a mile closer to the interchange than the current exit ramp.

The temporary off-ramp is needed for the next couple of months while crews remove and replace the existing off-ramp with new concrete pavement. Once the permanent westbound off-ramp is built traffic will be switched back to the current configuration.

The project is expected to be completed by summer 2011, with three lanes open in each direction on I-84 over the bridge, eventually connecting with a fourth lane in each direction east of the interchange.

ITD and the Idaho State Police advise motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
