Paving to start Friday on North Overland
BURLEY - Paving on the west side of Overland Avenue will begin Friday morning (July 30), temporarily restricting access to local businesses, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Flaggers will direct motor vehicles to local streets and area businesses while crews complete paving and allow the asphalt to cool. Access is expected to be restored by the end of the day.

Local street and business access will be closed for as long as two hours at a time as the paver moves through, crews roll asphalt, and the material is allowed to cool. Traffic cannot be allowed on fresh asphalt. Cooling allows the asphalt to set up properly and ensures proper quality.

Overland Avenue paving will extend to Saturday as crews complete the side streets and finish miscellaneous paving. On Tuesday, traffic will switch to the west side onto fresh pavement, and reconstruction activities will begin on the east side of Overland Avenue.

Knife River Corporation Northwest of Boise is the contractor for the $3.13 million reconstruction. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-October. Drivers are reminded to watch for hazards and be cautious of workers and equipment at all times throughout the construction zone.

ITD and the Idaho State Police advise motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
