Resurfacing of northbound Lewiston Hill lanes to begin Monday (Aug.2)

LEWISTON - A resurfacing project north of Lewiston will reduce U.S. 95 to a single northbound lane, beginning Monday (Aug. 2), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The project will begin in north Lewiston and continue to the top of the Lewiston Hill, between mileposts 311 and 319. Expected to take 40 workdays, the project includes milling the surface of northbound lanes and the northbound Lewiston interchange ramps and ramps in both directions at the top of the Lewiston Hill.

A fog coat also will be added to the highway shoulders and median.

Although northbound traffic will be limited to one lane for the duration of the project, both southbound lanes will remain open. Interchange traffic will be limited to one lane or detoured at the U.S. 95/U.S. 12 interchange when the ramps are resurfaced.

Intermountain Slurry Seal, of Salt Lake City, is the contractor for the $2.1million state-funded project. Work should be completed by mid- to late September.

ITD and the Idaho State Police advise motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
