Fourth lane to open on westbound I-84 this weekend near the Orchard Interchange
Crews will have the fourth westbound lane on I-84 open by 7 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 7) to accommodate a traffic shift in late August. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures between the Cole and Broadway interchanges through Aug. 17.
One lane will be closed in both directions at night (10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights, and 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends) between the Cole and Broadway interchanges.
ITD is widening the interstate to four lanes in both directions between the Cole and Broadway interchanges. The speed limit is 55 mph, and a width restriction of 14 feet is in effect.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
