Construction to slow traffic on U.S. 20 between Rigby and Thornton starting Tuesday (Aug. 10)
RIGBY - Construction will slow traffic on U.S. 20 between Rigby and Thornton starting Tuesday (Aug. 10), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Northbound traffic will be rerouted to the southbound passing lane of U.S. 20 between milepost 325 and 327 to allow reconstruction of northbound lanes and construction of ramps for the Menan-Lorenzo Interchange currently being built.
The speed limit in each direction of travel will be 45 mph.
The interchange (overpass) project will elevate U.S. 20 to pass over the Menan-Lorenzo Highway, which will be realigned and improved south of its current location. The interchange project is scheduled for completion next summer.
During construction, southbound traffic will be able to turn right into the Lorenzo Boat Access and turn right out of the boat access. Drivers also will be able to turn right onto U.S. 20 from its intersection with the River Bridge Road, which runs east into 6800 South in Madison County.
Motorists should watch for construction workers, equipment, merging traffic and obey all traffic signs.
