Vista Interchange paving, smoothing begins Sunday and finishes next Saturday
BOISE - Motorists can look forward to smoother pavement at the Vista Interchange next week. Starting Sunday night (Aug. 15), crews will pave Vista Avenue, Airport Way and the I-84 on- and off-ramps.

The work will require overnight lane restrictions on Vista Avenue between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night from Sunday to Saturday (Aug. 21), with flaggers directing traffic.

Crews will remove bumps in the pavement and apply a final layer of asphalt. Motorists can expect restrictions at the following locations.

- Sunday night (Aug. 15) the Vista Avenue and Elder Street/Sunrise Rim intersection.

- Monday night (Aug. 16) the Vista Avenue and Airport Way/Wright Street intersection.

- Tuesday-Saturday (Aug. 17-21) on Vista Avenue, Airport Way and the on- and off-ramps.

"We're asking motorists to pay special attention when driving through the area this week," said Jayme Coonce, project engineer for the Vista Interchange.

Coonce said crews will use temporary stripes on the interchange during paving.

The Vista Interchange will be permanently striped at the end of the week. All lanes will be open at the interchange by Sunday morning.

The Vista Interchange project is expected to be completed in late summer 2010.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
