I-84 ramps to close temporarily at Burley, Heyburn this week
BURLEY - Closures for west-bound Interstate 84 on- and off-ramps at the Burley and Heyburn interchanges will continue this week as rehabilitation of highway progresses, the Idaho Transportation Department  announced.

Roadway construction and paving is planned at the Burley and Heyburn interchanges beginning Wednesday (Aug. 18).

The west-bound Heyburn interchange off-ramp (Exit 211) will close Wednesday morning for paving. Both on- and off-ramps at the interchange will be closed on Thursday.

Closure of the on- and off-ramps at the Burley interchange (Exit 208) are planned Wednesday after Exit 211 reopens. Crews will construct the roadway base in preparation of paving the ramps in the near future. Drivers should prepare for closures from approximately 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Signs will indicate which of the interchanges drivers should use when accessing I-84 during highway construction in the area. The closures are part of an approximately 15-mile, full-width rehabilitation project between mileposts 207 and 222.

Knife River Corporation Northwest of Boise is the contractor for the project between the Burley and Declo interchanges (milepost 207 to 216) at a cost of $12.8 million. It also includes bridge work at the Heyburn overpass interchange (exit 211).

ITD reminds drivers to slow down in the work zone, watch for construction trucks moving in and out of the roadway, and pay close attention to traffic signs and signals. Motorists also are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate systems.
