UPDATE: I-84 ramp closures at Burley continue through Saturday
BURLEY - Closures for westbound on- and off-ramps at the Burley Interchange will continue into the weekend as rehabilitation of Interstate 84 progresses, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.
Reconstruction of the westbound ramps at the Burley Interchange (Exit 208) will take place on Friday and Saturday (Aug. 20 & 21). Crews will build the roadway base in preparation of paving the ramps in the coming weeks. Drivers should be prepared for closures from approximately 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
Additional closures at both the Burley and Heyburn interchanges (Exits 208 and 211) will continue through the next two weeks as roadway reconstruction and paving of I-84 progresses. The two interchanges will not have closures at the same time. Drivers are encouraged to watch for signs directing which exit to use when accessing I-84.
The closures are part of an approximately 15-mile, full-width rehabilitation project of I-84 between mileposts 207 to 222.
Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise, is the contractor for the construction between the Burley and Declo interchanges (milepost 207 to 216) at a cost of $12.8 million.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
