Public invited to open house Wednesday (Sept. 29) on Driggs Main Street project
RIGBY ‑ The public is invited to an open house Wednesday (Sept. 29) on the planned 2011 improvement of Idaho 33 (Main Street) in Driggs, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) announced.

The open house will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the foyer of Driggs City Hall, 60 S. Main St. Residents can attend the open house at any time during the sessions to view plans and provide input.

The project will reconstruct 2,000 feet of Main Street between Ashley Avenue and Short Avenue in Driggs. Work will upgrade the road base, driving surface, street drainage and sidewalks for improved traffic and pedestrian safety.

About one mile of Main Street will be resurfaced both north and south of the reconstructed segment of highway, between 1000 North and Teton Creek Bridge (milepost 140 to 142) in Driggs.

The transportation department seeks public comment on preliminary design of the project. The open house will feature displays of preliminary plans and proposals for road access and traffic flow. Representatives from ITD and the city of Driggs will be available to answer questions.

As part of the planned project, the city of Driggs will replace or relocate utility lines under Idaho 33. The transportation department will administer the proposed improvement project using federal revenue.
