Paving on Overland Avenue begins Tuesday
BURLEY - With curbing and all underground work complete, crews are prepared to begin a week of paving on Overland Avenue, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Paving operations are expected to begin laying asphalt on Tuesday (Sept. 21) and will temporarily close business and roadway accesses for the remainder of the week.

Crews will begin to pave the roadway on the newly reconstructed northbound lanes of Overland Avenue with the first of two layers of asphalt. Once the east side of the roadway is complete, traffic will be shifted onto the new asphalt and the second layer of pavement will be installed on the southbound lanes.

Business access and intersecting roadways will encounter temporary closures throughout the week as paving crews lay the new asphalt. Traffic cannot be allowed on fresh asphalt until it is allowed to cool and cure for a few hours. Drivers are asked to be patient and follow all temporary traffic control.

In addition to paving, crews will continue to be installing roadway illumination, traffic signal devices, sidewalk and business approaches, and landscaping throughout the project limits.

Knife River Corporation Northwest of Boise is the contractor for the $3.13 million reconstruction.

The project is scheduled for completion in early October.
