Construction on final phase of Salmon River Bridge begins Monday (Sept. 27)
RIGBY - Construction on the final phase of a Salmon River Bridge maintenance project on U.S. 93 in Salmon will begin Monday (Sept. 27), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Motorists can expect delays and slow-moving traffic on Monday as crews prepare and place the final section of deck concrete. Work will proceed through the night. Travel may be reduced to one lane, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. Commercial vehicles will be restricted to 10 feet in width and to legal weights.

Crews will then finish replacing the sidewalk and install railing on the south side of the bridge. The project is scheduled for completion on Monday, Nov. 1.

Railing will include a pedestrian rail between the sidewalk and bridge deck, and a 42-inch-high rail on the edge of the bridge. Resurfacing will improve traffic safety and riding comfort, and extend the life of the deck. Replacing the sidewalk and extending the railing will improve pedestrian safety.

Motorists should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs.
