Overland Avenue traffic signals, striping to be ready Tuesday
BURLEY - The reconstruction of Overland Avenue, between the Snake River and Interstate 84, is nearly complete with a few remaining finishing touches, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Beginning Tuesday (Oct. 5), roadway striping will be complete and new traffic signals will be turned on. A few minor construction tasks will continue over the next few weeks that will impact traffic.

Crews will work Monday night and Tuesday morning to install final signal components in anticipation of Tuesday's start-up at the intersections of Overland Avenue and Third, Fifth and Seventh streets. Drivers will need to use caution when driving through the new signals to get used to the new alignment and timing.

The reconstructed Overland Avenue eliminated several frontage roads, is wider and has improved turn bays. The roadway also
includes a storm-water collection system, restructured business access, addition of bicycle lanes and a new signal at Third Street.

Crews will still be working on several details of the new roadway for up to two weeks to complete concrete work on the sidewalks and around manholes in the roadway, as well as landscaping in the median and outside the roadway. Drivers should continue to watch for lane closures.

Knife River Corporation Northwest, of Boise, is the contractor for the $3.13 million reconstruction.
