Trucks asked to use left lane on I-84 east of Boise to extend life of pavement
BOISE - To help the pavement last longer, trucks and heavy
vehicles are asked to use the left lane in a stretch of eastbound I-84 between
Boise and Mountain Home.
Last week, three sets of signs went up in the 12-mile stretch
between milepost 70 and 82 saying "trucks use left lane" to address
the pavement condition.
The right-hand lane in that stretch is rutted and
potholed. By removing the heavier traffic from using the right lane, ITD
is hoping to extend the life of the pavement until funding allows for a more
permanent repair in the near future.
