Perrine Bridge lane restrictions expected Monday through Wednesday for crash cushion repair
TWIN FALLS - Traffic crossing the Perrine Bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning Monday (Oct. 18) to repair a crash attenuator, or cushion, on the south end of the bridge, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Crash attenuators, or cushions, are used on highways to reduce damage to vehicles and highway structures in the event of a crash. An example is barrels full of water or sand that lessen the impact of a crash.

The passing lanes on both the north- and southbound lanes will be closed Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 20) to make repairs to the damaged attenuator. Drivers can expect some traffic congestion and minor delays due to the lane restrictions.

Work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be concluded by 4 p.m. each day. There will be a 14-foot width restriction in effect for all wide loads.

Drivers are urged to be cautious when crossing the bridge and watch for crew members and equipment.

The repairs are the result of a vehicle crash on Aug. 4 that damaged the attenuator.

MarCon Inc., of Meridian, will be doing the $39,250 repair.
