Construction update for south-central Idaho July 8-15

SHOSHONE - Here is the construction update for south-central Idaho for July 9-July 15:

Idaho 75, Mammoth Cave to Richfield Canal Traffic on an eight-mile section of Idaho 75 (mileposts 82-93) is reduced to one lane through late July. Flaggers and pilot cars will direct motorists through the work zone. The speed limit is posted. Vehicles are limited to a maximum of 12 feet. Expect delays of 10-15 minutes. During evenings and weekends, all lanes will be open. Passing is prohibited in the construction zone.

Idaho 21, Vader Creek through Stanley A seal-coat project on Idaho 21 (mileposts 116-131) continues through mid-July. The speed limit will be reduced depending on surface conditions. Pilot cars and flaggers will assist with one-way traffic control. Work will be suspended the weekend of July 16 for the Sawtooth Mountain Mamas Arts and Crafts Fair. Seal coats protect the existing roadway from water damage and provide a smoother ride for motorists.

Idaho 77, Declo to Albion This reconstruction project, five miles south of Declo to Albion (mileposts 18-23), requires a width restriction of 12 feet. Vehicles exceeding that be will required to take Idaho 81 from Declo to Malta, and then Idaho 77 from Malta to Albion. Delays of up to 10 minutes are possible. The speed limit is 35 mph with one-lane traffic restrictions. This project, expected to be completed in October, will create a smoother and safer road surface.

Idaho 77, City of Rocks Backcountry Byway This reconstruction project from Idaho 77 to Almo (7.5 miles east of Malta) involves a detour, using 2975 South Road, 750 East Road, and 2800 South Road. Delays of 15 minutes should be expected. Work is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Idaho 27, Paul to Burley (milepost 24-26), will be seal-coated beginning Tuesday (July 12); Burley to Oakley (milepost 0-21) will be seal-coated beginning Wednesday (July 13) and a two-mile section of downtown Burley (U.S. 30/Idaho 27), south of the Overland Bridge will be seal-coated beginning Sunday (July 17). The speed limit will be posted. Pilot cars and flaggers will assist with one-way traffic control. Crews will work weekdays, although occasional work may be necessary on weekends if inclement weather dictates. Kloepfer, Inc. of Paul, Idaho, is the project contractor. Work is expected to be complete by late July.

Bridge Repairs: Crews are repairing bridge joints throughout various bridges in South Central Idaho. Lanes are reduced, although minimal delays are expected. Vehicles are limited to a width of 12 feet through the construction area. Motorists are reminded to slow down in the area. Rear-end collisions account for most work zone crashes. Bridge repair projects include:

  • Power Road Structure over I-84 (milepost 132) Completion is scheduled for late July;
  • U.S. 26: East Bliss Interchange (mileposts 138-139) Expect delays of 5-10 minutes with work zone speed limit reduced to 55 mph. Completion scheduled for late July.
