Washington Street paving begins Thursday
TWIN FALLS - As the highway construction season draws to a close, crews are working to complete a large portion of the Washington Street project before winter.

Paving of southbound
Washington Street between Cheney Drive and Wirshing Avenue will begin Thursday (Nov. 4), the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

All roads and private approaches on the west side of Washington will be closed during paving. Falls Avenue and North College Road will be closed while crews pave through the intersection; they will reopen as soon as the asphalt cools.

Paving the west side of Washington Street and adjoining streets will take place over the next three weeks, or as weather allows. The two northbound lanes will be converted into single lanes traveling in each direction. Alternate routes are recommended.

Drivers are reminded to use caution through the construction zone, watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the construction zone, and be prepared to stop for flaggers.

DEBCO Construction, of Orofino, is the contractor for the $6.5 million project sponsored by the city of Twin Falls. ITD is administering the federally funded project for the city.
