Southwest Idaho highway construction report for Sept. 23-30
BOISE - Following is the southwest Idaho highway construction report for Sept. 23-30:

ADAMS COUNTY
U.S. 95 New Meadows to Cattle Crossing
This project will rehabilitate deteriorated pavement on U.S. 95 from its junction with Idaho 55 in New Meadows north seven miles to Cattle Crossing. The speed limit is 35 mph in the work zone. Valley Paving and Asphalt, Inc. is the contractor for this $2.2 million project.  Completion is expected in early October.

BOISE COUNTY
Idaho 21, South Fork Payette River Bridge, Lowman
Traffic is reduced to one 11-foot-wide lane and managed by flaggers or signals on the bridge. Work includes concrete deck rehabilitation, guardrail improvements and approach paving. The speed limit in the work zone is 25 mph. The project is expected to be complete in summer 2006.

CANYON COUNTY
Interstate 84, Karcher Interchange
A new interchange will be built to serve businesses, commuters and residents on the west side of Nampa and surrounding areas. The project includes a five-lane interchange overpass to connect a new section of Idaho 55 with Karcher Road extending past its intersection with Caldwell Boulevard. Current work includes clearing the ground, tree removal, fence removal, demolition and installation of sediment control devices. Aside from increased truck traffic in the area, traffic impacts are minimal. The interchange is expected to be open for traffic by winter 2006-7. Central Paving, Inc. of Boise is the contractor for this $30 million project.

Interstate 84, Garrity eastbound on-ramp
This project will lengthen the eastbound on-ramp to I-84 at Garrity Boulevard to create a safer merge for motorists entering I-84. Work is done between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. One lane of eastbound I-84 will remain open during work hours. There should be no traffic delays from construction during commute times. The work is expected to be complete by October.

ELMORE COUNTY
Interstate 84, concrete crack monitoring
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane restrictions on five miles of westbound I-84 east of Mountain Home from Sept. 26-30.  Crews will inspect pavement cracks in the area.

VALLEY COUNTY
Idaho 55, Banks to Donnelly
Work will be done at three sites on Idaho 55 to construct drains and replace culverts. The speed limit in the work zones will be 45 mph. Travel will be restricted to one lane with traffic managed by flaggers. Motorists can expect delays of 10-15 minutes. The work sites will be near mileposts 99, 101 and 128. The project is expected to be complete by October.
