New Snake River scenic overlook completed
TWIN FALLS - It's a new view of an old vantage point.
Installation of a new Snake River scenic overlook near the Perrine Bridge has been completed and is now open to the public, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Much of the sightseer area and parking lot in the area near the Buzz Langdon Visitor Center has been closed since late July for construction of the overlook.
Completion of the 43-foot by 21-foot steel cantilever overlook was accomplished by cutting out a portion of the rock wall and anchoring the structure into the ground. Crews also installed additional wood-pole fence, new sidewalk and improved ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) access.
Crews will return in the spring to complete sprinklers and landscaping in the area near the new overlook, which was impacted by construction activities.
Cannon Builders, Inc., of Blackfoot is the contractor for the $212,900 project.
