Avalanche-prone stretch of Idaho 21 reopens
BOISE - The 12-mile stretch of Idaho 21 between Grandjean
Junction and Banner Summit was reopened today at 12:45 p.m., the Idaho
Transportation Department announced.
The route has been closed since 5 p.m. Monday as a cautionary
measure for travelers' safety because of deteriorating weather conditions.
ITD avalanche specialists report 26 inches of
new snow from the storm that ended mid-day Tuesday, and more than three feet of snow
on the ground at Banner Summit.
