UPDATE: Mores Creek Bridge project to begin Dec. 21
BOISE - A project to update the Mores Creek Bridge (High Bridge) on Idaho 21 east of Boise is expected to begin Dec. 21, the Idaho Transportation Department announced. Work was to have begun Nov. 29, but was delayed by weather.
The project on the 58-year-old bridge is expected to last up to nine months. During that time, traffic across the bridge will be controlled by signals at each end, allowing only one lane in one direction to pass through at a time. In addition, a nine-foot width restriction will be in effect.
Different timing patterns will be run on the signals during peak travel times, giving preference to the predominant traffic movement. Once the lane closure occurs, it will be that way for the long haul. With limited work space and the nature of the work, tearing down and resetting the lane closure will not be possible.
The bridge deck and joints will be rehabilitated and the bridge parapet and railing replaced. Work on the foundation during the low-water winter period will include constructing a retaining wall, anchoring rock, slope armoring and seismic retrofit. Portions of the structural steel will be painted along with other repairs on the structure.
RSCI, of Meridian, is the contractor on the $2.8 million project.
