Timmerman Rest Area reconstruction complete, opens Monday
SHOSHONE - The Timmerman Rest Area at the junction of U.S. 20 and Idaho 75 is expected to reopen to the public on Monday (Dec. 13) following an eight-month reconstruction, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Enhancements of the facility include an expanded restroom building and 10 restroom stalls along with accommodations for family use. Facility improvements also addressed ADA accessible parking, ramps and restroom facilities, which were not available previously.

The parking area was expanded and improved with separate parking for trucks and passenger vehicles. Improvements also were made to the sanitary sewer and lagoons, storm water drainage, and the retention of historical and geological information signs at the rest area. It has been closed since May for reconstruction.

Improvements to the rest area were designed to accommodate growth and additional traffic for at least 20 years. Barry Hayes Construction of Idaho Falls is the contractor for the $2 million reconstruction.
