Part of Idaho 21 now closed as safety precaution for rising avalanche hazard
BOISE - The 12-mile stretch of Idaho 21
between the Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit closed today (Tuesday,
Dec. 28) at 2 p.m. as an avalanche precaution for travelers' safety, the
Idaho Transportation Department announced.
The snowpack in the area is stable at the moment, but the National Weather
Service is forecasting that "heavy snow with areas of blowing and drifting snow
will bring near blizzard conditions across Banner Summit from later this
afternoon through Wednesday late morning or afternoon."
