Southwest Idaho highway construction report for July 10-16

BOISE - Following is the southwest Idaho highway construction report for July 10-16:

BOISE COUNTY
Idaho 55 Horseshoe Bend turn lane

This project widens Idaho 55 through Horseshoe Bend, adding a continuous left-turn lane. A seal coat will be applied through town and past the port of entry just north of Horseshoe Bend as the last work of the project. Idaho Sand and Gravel is the contractor for this $800,000 project that is expected to be complete in August.

Banks to Lowman Road rock stabilization

Crews are removing and stabilizing rock on the slopes above the Banks to Lowman Road to improve safety for motorists. The work consists of rock scaling, rock removal, occasional drilling and blasting, and guardrail upgrades. Work will occur Monday through Thursday. Both highway and river traffic should expect delays of up to 15 minutes when rocks are being removed. Blasting may cause longer delays. Flaggers will assist both river and highway traffic. This $400,000 project is scheduled to be complete by August.

ELMORE COUNTY
Idaho 51, milepost 85 to I-84B, Mountain Home

This project will be done as separate repaving projects going in both directions from the junction of Idaho 51 and Idaho 67 near Mountain Home. On two-lane Idaho 51 south of the Idaho 67 junction, work will be limited to one lane at a time. Traffic will be assisted by a pilot car during construction.

From the Idaho 67 junction to Fifth West Street in Mountain Home, a five-lane roadway, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction during pavement construction. Lanes will remain open between 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Nighttime work will not be allowed without approval from the transportation department. Idaho Sand and Gravel is the contractor for this $1.6 million project that is expected to be complete by September.

PAYETTE COUNTY

Through traffic is detoured around Pennsyvania Avenue and SW 4th Street in Fruitland while bicycle and pedestrian facilities are added to the roads shoulders. Local traffic is permitted. The work will be completed in August.
